REVIEW: Comotomo Baby Bottle

My search for the "one" feeding bottle to rule them all (for Jules, of course) has come to a conclusion. After searching high and lows, over the seas and over the hills, I am very ecstatic to present to you the bottle that made my life a litte more easier as a mom. :)

Comotomo bottles may seem like your average wide-mouth bottle but there is something really unique in the way this bottle feels. Made from 100% BPA free, medical grade silicon, these bottle is so flexible and soft to touch that even I enjoy it, as much as what it would be like for baby to feed at its mother´s´breast.

On the Comotomo baby bottle box states:

I think it is such a brilliant point of inspiration! Anyway, I am not gonna babble any more further and just go straight ahead to my take on it.

PROS

1. Easy to clean. I love that it is a wide-mouth bottle, making it possible for you to insert you hands to scrub and wash the inside of the bottle and it has no tubes or narrow parts that require small, special brushes to clean it. 

2. Assembly is a no-brainer. The parts are composed of the cap, the nipple, fastening ring top and the bottle body.

3. The softest silicone nipple I have encountered so far. I think that is an essential factor to consider when you are transitioning your baby from breast to bottle. Jules won´t take other feeding bottles because of the hard, unnatural nipple. This is really a bip plus!

4. Has anti-colic double airvents. Who wants a gassy baby, right? Ever since my baby used this, she never experienced any gas at all! Lessy gassy baby, happier mommy!

5. Made of quality materials. Here´s the deal: these bottles are medical-grade silicone and made sans BPA, PVC or phthalate materials, making them eco-friendly, safe for dishwasher and very sturdy. Something that you can use over a long period of time and probably, your next baby can use it too! Saving you money in the long run.

6. Soft, squeezable silicone bottle body.  The silicone bottle can be gently squeezed at the beginning og feeding, giving baby a letdown experience. Genius right? I think this is what makes it a good bottle which makes the breast-to.-bottle transition seamless! Another point worth mentioning is that this letdown feature is very handy indeed when your baby is fussy and hungry and needs to soothing ASAP. This has been been my lifesaver a number of times.

7. Silicone bottle acts as an insulator to the milk, especially helpful during colder months in keeping milk in optimal temperature.

8. The silicone bottle mimics mother´s skin. I observed that my baby love running her hands and feeling the texture of the bottle. I can´t say that it is at par with my skin´s texture, but she seems to enjoy it. 

9. Round, wide nipple base. This allows baby to latch on properly. Know that this is important if you continue to nurse in addition to bottle feed.

10. Replaceable nipple (slow, medium,fast and various flow). I have seen with other bottles that my daughter tends to make adjustements to catch up on the flow of the nipple and/or eventually milk ends up seeping on the sides of her mouth. My baby uses medium flow nipples and this never happened to her with comotomo.

11. Found in two sizes- 5 ounces and 8 ounces. I bought the 8 oz. bottles although my baby is just 4 months old and I am glad I did because that extra oz. means that it can hold more milk and less trip to the kitchen to make another bottle. 

CONS

1. More expensive that your regular bottles. For an 8 oz. bottle, you are gonna shed around 19 US$. The replacement nipple costs 7 US$ for a pack of 2.

2. Sometimes easy to get toppled because of the slim base. 

3. Not easy to get hold of in Europe. I have to buy it on ebay.com.

Sorry about the orange discoloration on the nipple. Jules is chowing down a cup of mashed carrots and she is drinking water from the bottle. It was easily washed off though.

She is not camera shy at all! Loving her Comotomo bottle.

The two airvents as shown on the two holes on the nipple serve  as an anti-colic feature.
